Scoping
The Scope of an IT services project refers to the detailed and precise delineation of all the work required to complete the project successfully. It encompasses the project objectives, deliverables, boundaries, and requirements.
Outline the primary goals the project aims to achieve. These should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART).
Identify the specific products, services, or results that will be produced by the project. This can include software applications, system integrations, reports, or documentation.
In-Scope: Clearly define what is included within the project scope. This involves listing all the tasks, features, and functions that are part of the project.
Out-of-Scope: Explicitly state what is excluded from the project scope to avoid scope creep and ensure that stakeholders have a clear understanding of what will not be delivered.
Specify the functions and features that the system or service must provide. Define the performance, usability, reliability, and other quality attributes that the system must meet.
Establish the project timeline, including start and end dates, and any critical milestones that must be met. Identify any limitations in terms of available resources.
